Grandparents Compassion

We are proud to share with you some of the ways Sea Crest School gives back. Throughout the year, our teachers inspire and empower our learners to act with compassion by incorporating hands-on service projects into their curricula. A few highlights include:

We partner with the local community organization ALAS (Ayudando Latinos a Soñar) to sponsor their "One Warm Blanket" drive. We encourage every student and faculty member to donate one new fleece blanket to support community farmworkers and their families.

Each major holiday, the students make cards for our neighbors at the Senior Coastsiders and are included in their Meals on Wheels delivery for that holiday.

In 2021, we supported Peace through Art and joining millions of individuals around the world with a small contribution. Each student, faculty, and staff member were invited to design and create a square to be added to the peace flag. The squares were a representation of what peace means to our community. The finished squares will be stitched together with many other contributors and the finished product will be on display at the United Nations.

Peace Flag Project

Once a month, seventh and eighth-grade students are learning the value of community service by volunteering at Senior Coastsiders' Table of Plenty and serving a warm, healthy meal to members of our Coastside community.

Each fall, our entire school community engages in a back-to-school food drive to support Coastside Hope, as part of our Social-Emotional Learning theme, Building Community.

Every year, sixth-grade students lead a school-wide hygiene drive for Coastside Hope, as part of the Health and Wellness curriculum.

The upper school students have the opportunity every semester to join the Green Team. An elective class that explores many ways students can make a difference and affect change in their own communities. They collaborate with fellow Earth Heroes to reduce our carbon footprint and champion environmental issues in our school and local community.

The Marine and Coastal Science program has partnered with the Pacific Beach Coalition and the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Ocean Guardian program, taking part in coastal habitat restoration, beach and wetland cleanup, and local environmental research.
